Located in Ottawa's East End

Bytown Beat is a friendly, fun, and diverse group of women and female-identifying singers located in Orléans, Ontario. We sing acappella 4-part harmony (also known as barbershop) under the direction of Kelly Edwards & Stephanie Turpin. Do you love to sing? Do you want to grow your vocal skills while having fun? We'd love to have you join us!

Creative and Educational

Women of all ages are offered a creative outlet for musical growth and receive vocal lessons while learning to sing as a harmony team.

New Members Welcome

Come to our weekly rehearsals. No formal musical training is required. Riser readiness is assessed after a period of 4-6 weeks.

Annual Convention and Competition

Bytown Beat is a member of SingUnited International (previously Sweet Adelines International), a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. This independent, non-profit music education association is one of the world‘s largest singing organizations for women with 24 regions comprised of more that 1200 quartets and 500 choruses.

Our chorus is part of Lake Ontario Region 16. Every region holds educational events as well as annual chorus and quartet competitions.
